Trustmark and Neighborhood Housing Services of Birmingham Partner for NeighborWorks Week Events, June 4-11
Neighborhood Housing Services of Birmingham (NHSB) and banking and mortgage provider Trustmark will host a series of informative and fun events held throughout Birmingham during this year’s NeighborWorks Week. The theme for the week is: “Empowering Communities for Success.”
According to Kelleigh Gamble, NHSB Executive Director, this year’s events are returning to in-person activities and will celebrate bringing together neighbors once again.
“Last year, due to the pandemic, we weren’t able to gather everyone together to celebrate our neighborhoods. But this year, there is a little bit of something for everyone—from first-time homeowners to homeowners who want to rehabilitate their housing to advice for aging in place for seniors and even a volunteer neighborhood cleanup project,” he said.
“The week will bring together residents, business people, local government officials, and community volunteers for a week of change and awareness, including events that educate, train, and inform about NHSB’s mission to make strategic choices in both people and real estate to create communities of choice,” Gamble explained.
Trustmark will also be on site to answer questions and offer helpful information about the homebuying process and valuable banking services. Trustmark, one of the South’s oldest and strongest banks, offers a comprehensive range of personal and business banking services, as well as mortgage loans for any lifestyle or budget. One option is Trustmark’s Home Advantage loan, which is uniquely designed to meet the affordable housing needs of low-to-moderate income homebuyers.
“We are thrilled to partner with NHSB to present NeighborWorks Week,” stated Eula Jackson, Trustmark Community Development Manager in Birmingham. “Our local team is looking forward to connecting with participants as we share resources for current and future homeowners on topics such as credit scores, financing options, down payment assistance programs, currently available housing grants and more.”
“Our message is, don’t just think homeownership is not an option; let’s work together to make being a homeowner happen for you!” noted Jackson.
Events begin on Saturday, June 4, for a “No Place Like Home” Housing Summit, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at The Worship Center Christian Church, at 100 Derby Parkway. Then on June 8, there will be an “Aging in Place” Workshop for Seniors from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Central Park Recreation Center at 4700 Terrace Q. A daylong “Housing Education Workshop” will be held from 8:30 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. at the NHSB office. Also, on the afternoon of June 11, from 2-6 p.m. there will be a Community Cleanup Volunteer Event in the Druid Hills Neighborhood near Top Golf, which will feature a variety of food trucks, ice cream, and hydration stations.
