About Neighborhood Housing Services
For over 40 years, Neighborhood Housing Services of Birmingham, Inc. (NHSB) has worked to give families the tools they need to emerge from poverty and achieve financial stability.
Our goal is to help stabilize urban neighborhoods in the City of Birmingham and surrounding areas by promoting personal financial empowerment and homeownership. We offer safe, affordable housing options for working families whose household income is too much to qualify for subsidized housing, but do not earn enough to afford housing at current market rates.
Since our founding, we have steadily expanded our service area and program offerings to ensure outcomes remain relevant to the changing needs of our clients. Today, our offerings empower individuals and families to overcome barriers to achieve their home-ownership goals:
Our programs and offerings are constantly changing. For the most up-to-date information, if you have specific questions, or are in need of specialized help, please email us directly.

For others, a partnership forged from a desire to make a direct impact on our community has led to expansion of programs and personal outreach.
With our deepest gratitude for helping us give individuals and families the tools they need to emerge from poverty and achieve financial stability, we salute our donors and partners:
